Often we are under the prejudice that all expensive products are better in quality, However this worked quite the opposite for us. I started using the TRESemme Keratin Shampoo with Keratin and Argan oil after my wedding because my wife was using it. At that time I had 2 or 3 grey hair. In a couple of months I had more than 15. Ofcourse I dared not to continue with the shampoo. But I had my doubts about the other factors that could induce greying - food, stress, sleep-time, dust, etc... However, 6 months later the amount of grey hair was stagnant and had not increased. That was a sign of relief. Around 8 to 10 months ago, I think it was just before the lockdown (Covid), my wife complained that she had good volume of hair earlier but over a period of time she had been facing hair fall problem and showed me an older photo of hers that was taken sometime in  2016. She was having hair fall in-spite of using a good shampoo like the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo with Keratin and Argan oil. I asked her about the time since when she started using the shampoo. 2016, came the answer. I got some serious doubts. I checked on Amazon for reviews. It has a 4.5 star rating from over 4000+ people rating it. Yes it does give a silky, smooth texture to your hair, but to the ones that are remaining. No wonder why they have rated it as best. But, when I dug a lil deeper on amazon I found these:

I also happened to check outside amazon and found a lot of them with similar problems with this shampoo. 

Infact, while writing this post I found that things are even more scarier than they seemed earlier. Two women, Robyn Lipetz and Shannon Keener, both from Philadelphia, US, have said that they suffered hairloss and painful scalp burns from TRESemme keratin shampoo and conditioner. They have filed a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer. The hair loss and scalp injuries were caused by a chemical called DMDM hydantoin - which is related to formaldehyde. their class action lawsuit says. They are seeking to represent a class of TRESemme customers who purchased the keratin products and suffered damage from using them. Their lawyers estimate there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of potential class members.

Two rupees free knowledge: DMDM or Dimethyl Imidazoldinedione - Can have any variation of number combinations between or around the words is similar in function and concern to Imodiazolidinyl/Diazolidinyl Urea - This chemical is used in many shampoos and cosmetics to increase shelf life. DMDM hydantoin is known to cause eye, skin & lung irritation (incase if areated) and even immunotoxicity in humans. Infact, Japan has banned usage of DMDM.

Anyways we stopped using TRESemme and the hair fall stopped. We do not find any other explanation to the hair fall she had apart from this. We have now started using a different Shampoo and hair oil and we have found a solution. Will write up one post about what we have started using now and how it has helped us re-grow, repair and maintain hair sometime later.
