I had straight hair with no hair related issues in the past. I take a head bath everyday. Yes. Nothing is wrong. I used soap and occasionally a shampoo whenever I used to travel. If you are thinking who uses a soap for hair, the answer is me. I do. Otherwise I stick to either medimix or any neem soap. So this was the case till I got married. Once I got married, my wife and I started using TRESemme (Click to see my why I do not recommend TRESemme) and you all know what happened. Post that I wanted to fix what was lost. I searched and tried a lot of online stuff and a few of them did work. These are a list of what I used, that did give me good results.

The following are pointers that will have an impact on your hair but acts like a background remedy.

1. Stop using any of these chemical based shampoos / conditioners. - When we have all the ingredients that are required for our hair naturally, there isn't any reason for us to go for any chemical based shampoo.

2. Have a regular pattern in your hair care. The way we have a regular workout plan, a plan for recovering from hair issues is necessary in my opinion.

3 Have good eating and sleeping habits. Include lot of cucumber, lemon, curry leaf, gooseberries and the likes. I wouldn't talk about drinking or smoking because there are a lot of people out there who drink and smoke a lot but have no issues with hair. So I would leave that to your discretion as to whether you would want to stop/reduce smoking and drinking. Having said that, if you quitting smoking/drinking, there are certainly other health benefits. I am not sure on its direct impact on hair.

4 Use good quality helmets or cover your hair with a scarf before using a helmet.

5 Do some yoga, breathing exercise. This is basically to have your stress levels reduced.

Let us move on to external applications. I am giving you the plan as per my usage. You are welcome to make changes but try to make sure you stick to the number of times and regularity. These are a set of natural treatments for hair that can be done at home.

1. Hair pack
a) Take 3 pieces of aloe vera (around 7 to 8 inch long ones). Cut the sides, scoop out the gel into a mixer jar. Note: The gel that is naturally extracted doesn't have the same consistency as the ones available in the market. Nevertheless, it is much more effective and natural than the ones in the market. Now to this, add a 5 to 7 table spoons of coconut oil and run it into a liquid. collect this into a container. Cut open a vitamin C capsule and add it to this container and give it a mix and store it in a refrigerator. Let us call this part A for our reference. When you want to use it, take a small onion, run one half of it into a paste, strain the juice into a cup, add a teaspoon of "part A" mix it well and massage your scalp with this gently for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Recommended way to massage is with while sitting in a forward leaning position and with your head down. Leave it for a couple of hours or if possible overnight and wash your hair using a gentle shampoo. I have stored the "part A" mixture for 2 months and it has remained intact. However I wouldn't be able to give you a random figure as a shelf life because the intention of writing this up is to help out people who are searching for a solution and not just fill up my blog with articles. Also make sure you do not add the onion juice while storing it. If you end up mixing onion juice and storing it, trust me nobody will sit next to you when you use it. It stinks so bad. Bad breath after having onion is not even close to what this smells like. So please, make a juice of onion just before usage.
b)Take hibiscus flower leaves (preferably white hibiscus) and a flower. Tear it up into small pieces and put it in half a glass of water. smash it with your fingers until you get a slimy  consistency. Apply this and leave it at least for 2 hours before washing you hair without any shampoo or soap. Sufficient for guys with medium length hair. Depending on the length of your hair adjust the quantity maintaining the approximate proportion.
c) Soak a teaspoon full of fenugreek seeds overnight. make a paste of it in the morning along with rice flour egg white, freshly extracted aloe vera gel, juice of a full lemon and little water. Apply this all over your scalp and leave it at least for a couple of hours before washing.

In any of these I have not used honey because in spite of all the recommendations there is a belief here in India that honey induces greying of hair. I haven't tried it. So I wouldn't recommend either. If you do try, let me know the result.

Hairspray: Soak 3 cups of rice in 6 cups of water over night. remove the rice, add juice of 1 lemon along with the lemon skin that has just been squeezed or the skin of any citrus fruit and boil the water for 10 minutes. Let it cool down and transfer to a glass jar to store. Transfer some of it into a sprayer and spray it all over the length of your hair and the scalp till wet, comb and cover your hair with a cloth for a couple of hours, wash without using a soap or shampoo. It is recommended that you put this in a big bowl and directly dip your hair. However, I thought this would result in a lot of wastage and hence came up with the spraying concept. I take advantage of Dosa making process and so I soak rice and black grams (Uddina bele in Kannada).

Hair oil: Heat 1litre of coconut oil in a vessel on a low flame. To this add 2 table spoons of black cumin seeds (Kappu jeerige or kalonje seeds). 1 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds, 25 curry leaves. Take around 6 to 7 inches long aloe vera leaf, cut it into small cubes and drop it into the coconut oil. After this, bring it to a boil for about 15 minutes. If it is about to spill, you may switch off the heat and heat it once it cools down. Make sure to boil it in low flame through out. After 15 minutes, switch off the heat and allow it to cool completely. You may choose to strain and store in an air tight container. However I prefer not to strain.

It isn't a  case that I use only home remedies for my hair. I have tried a couple of homoeopathy products that are slow but extremely good ones.

So I go about the hair treatment schedule something like this.
Saturday: 1st hair pack.
Sunday: 2nd hair pack
Following Saturday: 3rd hair pack
Repeat

Monday Night: Home made hair oil
Tuesday morning: Wash with Arnica Shampoo - Amazon India, Amazon US, Amazon UK
Thursday Night: Arnica hair oil - Amazon India, Amazon US, Amazon UK
Friday morning: Wash with Shampoo
Following Monday: Jaborandi hair oil - Amazon India, Amazon US
Following Tuesday morning
Repeat

I have searched and added links to the products from amazon from India, US and UK. You may click on the relevant amazon page for your country to see.

So this is my schedule. You may feel the difference within a few weeks. But give it a good 3 to 4 months. You are welcome to come back and thank me
